John Eric Milton, age 62, departed this life on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. He was born on April 21, 1962, to John Victor Milton and Mary Elizabeth Cothran Dayton, Ohio. Eric accepted the Lord as his personal savior at a young age. He was a member of Church of God Gateway to Heaven originally.
He was affectionally known to family and friends as “E”. John went to Meadowdale High School and was known for his humor, telling jokes, and dancing to put on a show for others. He enjoyed making others laugh. After high school he discovered he had a passion for cooking in which he worked at Spaghetti Warehouse, Old Country Buffet, Red Lobster, and Bravo Italian Kitchen. Which means “he knew a thing or two, when it came to preparing meals”. John enjoyed playing cards with his friends and family watching NFL football games and sharing stories about life and dropping knowledge from time to time for those open to listen. He also attended Dominion Ministries International for bible study, which focused on men’s support, encouragement and enlightenment.
He’s preceded in death by his father, John Victor Milton; mother, Mary Elizabeth Cothran; and brother, Ray Robinson. He leaves to cherish his memories to his sister, Anita Sutton Hall; former wife Tanya Herzog; daughter, Ashley Herzog; grandson Malachi; special cousins, Terry Dominick, Buffie Elston, Tasha Reid, and Loverna Reid (Junior); nephews, Awet Tekeste, Marcus Hall (Ja-Mae Hall), Madaras Hall; Nieces Deana Rae Robinson and Mickki Hall; special close friends Natasha Wright, Skeet, Trap, Caroh; Mark Cotton and a host of family and friends he loved.
