Carol Ann Ramsey (also known as “Sally”) a nickname given to her by her late brothers in law, Steven and Albert Ramsey was born July 13, 1944 to her parents Mary K. Nelson and Herbert Wells of Hamilton, Ohio. Carol would soon thereafter, be blessed again by her adoptive parents, Mary Ann Hodges Robinson and Arthur Robinson who resided in New Miami, Ohio.
Carol bonded quickly with her new parents and her new home. She completed her formal education and graduated from New Miami High School (home of the Vikings) in 1964.
On September 5, 1964, Carol married Paul Henry Reese. Paul served his country as a Captain in the United States Army. Now, being a military wife, Carol moved to Ft. Knox, Kentucky to live on the base. Living there while her husband served in Vietnam. She would also make occasional trips back to Ohio to visit her adoptive parents. Seven months later in April of 1965, Carol gave birth to her only son, Barry Reese.
After four years of marriage Carol’s husband Paul on his second tour of duty, unfortunately, at the young age of twenty-six (26), lost his life in the Vietnam War.
On September 20, 1969, Carol would marry again to Lucius Ramsey, Sr of Hamilton, Ohio. Lucius worked as a press operator for the General Motors-Fisher Body Plant in Fairfield, Ohio. Not only did Carol find love again, she would also have the privilege and honor of being a bonus mother to Lucius Jr (age 10) and Todd (age 9) when their marriage was solemnized. With the family being extended with two brothers, Barry now had two playmates to enjoy on their overnight visits to Hamilton.
Lucius, Carol and Barry resided in Hamilton for a total of eight years. It was during this time Carol gave her life to Christ as a member of Israel Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Lloyd C. Blue.
From 1978-1981 Carol worked for the Ohio Bureau of Unemployment Service in Hamilton. Here she served as a claims processor. Helping those who required financial assistance following a job loss. She would later leave there to devoted herself in being a full time mother and wife.
After many years of anticipating and sending up prayers for grandchildren, Carol’s prayers were finally answered. The arrival of her grandson, Noah Johnson Reese on June 23, 2006. Carol held Noah dear to her heart, he was her pride and joy. She often kept in close continual contact with him all the way up until her passing.
Carol was preceded in death by: her husband, Lucius Ramsey Sr; her birth parents, Mary K. Nelson and Herbert Wells; her adoptive parents, Mary Ann Hodges Robinson and Arthur Robinson; her sisters, Marilyn Printup and Audrey Nelson; her brothers, Larry Franklin, Lonnie Franklin, and Alfred Nelson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her son, Barry Reese; grandson, Noah Johnson-Reese; sisters, Wanda Nelson, Marcia Nelson, Stephanie Jett, and Shelia Metcalf; and her brother, Rodney Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
